Specialized twitter publishing tools

In previous blogs posts I discussed how twitter clients could be made more useful. The same applies to publishing end as well.

Brands (generally large companies) have different needs compared to individuals when it comes to publishing. For example, multiple people with different roles may publish tweets on behalf of the same brand. Further, if a brand is looking to quell customer complaints on a particular topic, it may need a way to automatically log these complaints to a trouble ticket or customer service system. Twitter is already making some moves in this direction with its support for business use cases.

Another use case that Twitter should look into, if it has not already, is “PR for Celebrities”. Movie stars, well known musicians and the like usually have a small staff that represents the individual to the public. It is in the celebrity’s and his/her staff’s interest to maintain a steady stream of interesting news and take questions from their followers/fans. Building a specialized publishing system that helps the staff handle the volume and nature of tweets (gossip, deal news) makes sense. It is anybody’s guess if there is enough money in building such a specialized system for celebrities.
